Easy tips to develop website with zero coding knowledge

Here are a few easy that can help you to build website just within $25 and with zero coding or programming knowledge. Although, you may find numerous tutorial channels that beautifully describes how to develop websites but those are very detailed and intend to confuse the novice person. Hence, if you are looking to create a website by yourself but words like hosting, server, domain can baffle your mind. In this blog, I would like to provide basic tutorial on how to use WordPress to build you personal website and how you don’t need to depend on others. WordPress is a free content management system that powers over the 60 millions website including mine.

So, let’s get started  with some basics before developing a website:

Hosting– Web hosting is a service that allows organizations and individuals to post a website or web page onto the Internet. A web host, or web hosting service provider, is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or web-page to be viewed in the Internet. Websites are hosted, or stored, on special computers called servers.  Few examples are Hostgator, Bluehost, Dreamhost, MediaTemple, etc.

Domain– A domain name is an identification string that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority or control within the Internet. Domain names are formed by the rules and procedures of the Domain Name System (DNS). Any name registered in the DNS is a domain name. One of the common example is GoDaddy.

WordPress Theme– A collection of files that works together to produce a graphical interface with an underlying unifying design for a weblog. These files are called template files. A Theme modifies the way the site is displayed, without modifying the underlying software. A few most popular but free themes that you can use are Talon, GreatMag, Parallax One, etc.

Now, you just need to follow these steps to build your first website:

If you want to build a good, mobile friendly and functional website quickly, you’ll need to choose a platform (also known as content management system).

In order to set up your WordPress (or any other type of websites), you would need two things:

  • A domain name
    • If you’re making a website for your business, your domain name should match your company name. For example: YourCompanyName.com
    • If you’re planning to set up a website for yourself, then YourName.com can be a great option.
  • Hosting (a service that connects your site to the internet)

The WordPress platform itself is free, but a domain name and hosting will cost you around $3–$5 a month. However it costs less than a coffee, so it won’t pinch your pocket. To create an account, just enter in your personal information on the “create your account” page.

Once you’ve bought your domain name and set up your hosting, you’re well on your way! Now it’s time to get your website up and running. The first thing you’ll need to do is to install WordPress to your domain. Once you have successfully installed WordPress to your domain then you need a theme – a design template that tells WordPress how your website should look. Alternatively you can download Bitnami WordPress Stack which you can host on local server. Then, you can log into your WordPress dashboard using https://yoursite.com/wp-admin. Once you’re in the dashboard, you’ve got access to over 1500 free themes and plugins! Just look along the side bar for “Appearance”, then click “Themes”. With your theme and plugin installed, you’re ready to start creating content. “Plugins” are extensions that are built to expand WordPress’ capabilities, adding features and functions to your site that don’t come built-in like Contact form 7, Yoast SEO for WordPress, Google Analytics, etc.

If you’ve followed the steps in this guide, you should now have a fully-functional WordPress website! in just a day.

Last but not the least, keep improving your website, add SEO friendly content so that it gets  easily picked by google and promote your site organically without making any investment.
